On January 23, 2025, GetResponse retired its longstanding Basic, Plus, and Professional plans and replaced them with a new lineup: Starter, Marketer, and Creator (plus Enterprise). As with most plan "restructures" in this industry, the practical effect for most customers is paying more for comparable functionality.

Here's how the new pricing actually works—including the tier-jump mechanics that make GetResponse cost far more than its pricing page suggests.

What changed in GetResponse's pricing?

The new structure at 1,000 contacts, billed monthly:

  • Starter — $19/month, but stripped of the automation features most businesses need
  • Marketer — $59/month, the realistic tier for marketing automation
  • Creator — $69/month, aimed at course/content creators

The headline trick: the old entry plans included more. Features like advanced segmentation, ecommerce tracking, and full automation now live in Marketer and above, so the $19 Starter price is not an apples-to-apples successor to the old Basic plan. If pricing data you've seen predates 2025, ignore it—none of the old tiers map cleanly to the new ones.

There's a free plan, but it's capped at 500 contacts and basic newsletters, with no automation.

The tier-jump problem

GetResponse prices in discrete contact thresholds, and the jumps are sharp. Crossing 10,000 contacts on the Marketer plan takes you from $139/month straight to $299/month—the 25,000-contact tier price—even if you have 10,001 contacts. A single subscriber can add $160/month to your bill.

For a growing list, this makes costs lurch upward unpredictably, and it makes list hygiene (or a platform with smoother scaling) worth real money.

What should GetResponse customers do?

  • Map your features to the new tiers. If you were on Basic or Plus, verify what you'd actually need under the new structure before assuming Starter covers you.
  • Watch your contact thresholds. Clean bounced and unengaged contacts before crossing a tier boundary.
  • Compare before your next annual renewal. Annual billing saves 18%, but locking in a year on the wrong side of a restructure compounds the cost.
