The Best Email Marketing Tools for Stripe Businesses in 2026
Short answer: the best email marketing tools for Stripe businesses are the ones that read Stripe's billing events natively, so a trial ending, a failed payment or a cancellation can start an email without Zapier. Audienceful, Encharge and ActiveCampaign go deepest on subscription events. Loops, Drip and Customer.io suit developers. Klaviyo, Kit, Mailchimp and MailerLite connect to Stripe mainly for purchases.
"Integrates with Stripe" means very different things on different platforms. For some it's a full sync of subscriptions, plans and revenue, with every billing event available as a trigger. For others it's a list of buyers and their orders. And some only connect through Zapier. If you run a subscription business, the difference decides whether your trial, dunning and win-back emails can run at all.
We compared ten platforms on what a Stripe business actually needs. Everything here reflects each vendor's own documentation as of October 2026, linked at the end. Plans and prices change often, so check each vendor's pricing page before you decide.
Our bias, up front: we make Audienceful, which is on this list. We've tried to be fair to everyone else and we'll update this page when things change. If you spot something out of date, tell us.
What to look for in a Stripe email tool
- A native connection. The integration should come from the email platform and read Stripe events directly, with no Zapier in the middle.
- Subscription events as triggers. Trial ending, payment failed, past due, scheduled cancellation and canceled are the moments that move revenue. Purchase events alone won't cover them.
- Stripe data on each contact. Plan, subscription status and spend let you segment campaigns: upgrade offers to one plan, price change notices per plan.
- Guest buyers. If you sell through Payment Links or Checkout, many buyers never get a Stripe customer record. The tool should still capture them.
- Historical import. Your existing customers should come over too, not just new events.
- Revenue reporting. You should see which emails led to payments.

The best picks by use case
- Best overall for subscription businesses: Audienceful. Every billing event is a trigger, including scheduled cancellations, with plan and spend on each contact, guest buyers captured, revenue attribution and an AI agent, at small-business prices.
- Best dedicated SaaS automation tool: Encharge. Deep Stripe triggers and ready-made SaaS segments.
- Best if you're already on ActiveCampaign: ActiveCampaign. Flexible resource syncing, Stripe recipes and an AI connector for Stripe questions.
- Best for developer-led SaaS: Loops. Simple webhook setup and a clean product, with richer data sent through its API.
- Best for full control: Customer.io. Build exactly the pipeline you want from Stripe webhooks, if you have the engineering time.
- Best for ecommerce brands that also use Stripe: Klaviyo. Strong on payment metrics, though not on subscription states.
- Best for creators selling products: Kit. Purchases flow into subscriber profiles and can start automations.
Audienceful
Audienceful's Stripe integration connects with Stripe Connect, so there's no API key to paste and no webhook to host. Twelve Stripe events become automation triggers: customer created, trial started, trial will end, subscription activated, paused, resumed, past due, scheduled to cancel and canceled, payment succeeded, payment failed and charge refunded.
What stands out: scheduled cancellations are their own trigger, so you can try to save a customer before their access ends. Payment events cover invoices, Checkout and Payment Links, and guest buyers without a Stripe customer record still become contacts. Any trigger can be limited to specific Stripe products, for subscription and invoice payments. Each contact carries their plan, subscription status, trial end, renewal date and total spend, and a one-time import brings in your existing customers. Payments are credited to the email or automation that drove them, with refunds netted out.
Templates and AI: eight Stripe automation templates arrive with the trigger already set, and the AI agent and MCP server can build Stripe flows from a prompt in Claude or ChatGPT. There's a full dunning email setup too.
Price: free up to 1,000 contacts with one automation. Paid plans start at $29/month billed yearly ($37.50 monthly) for 3,000 contacts.
Watch out for: the Free plan runs one automation at a time, so most Stripe businesses will want a paid plan.
Encharge
Encharge is built for SaaS and has one of the deepest Stripe integrations. You connect it with a restricted Stripe API key and can import existing customers. It syncs customers (with MRR), subscriptions (status, dates, product), plans (value and interval) and payments.
What stands out: twelve Stripe triggers, including trial ends (before, at or after), trial expired, past due, scheduled cancellation and canceled. It also creates eight segments for you, such as current trials, churned customers and past-due subscriptions.
Watch out for: Encharge's docs note that its trial ends trigger fires even for customers who have already converted, so add a condition. Its Growth plan, which includes Stripe, was listed at $79/month billed yearly for up to 2,000 subscribers.
ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign's native integration lets you choose which Stripe resource to sync (charges, customers, subscriptions, invoices or checkout sessions) and whether to bring in history.
What stands out: automations can start from a Stripe event, a purchase, or a new or updated recurring payment, and ActiveCampaign publishes recipes such as a Stripe trial ending series. Its AI assistant has a Stripe connector that answers questions like how many active subscriptions you have.
Watch out for: Stripe fields map only to fields you've already created, synced contacts are tagged rather than added to a list, and payment status filtering needs the subscription resource. Plans scale quickly with contacts.
Loops
Loops is popular with developer-led SaaS teams. Its Stripe integration works through Loops' incoming webhooks: you add a webhook in Stripe that points at Loops, with the signing secret.
What stands out: a quick setup, and Stripe events (customers, subscriptions, invoices, checkout sessions and more) can start workflows. Contacts are matched by email and created if they don't exist.
Watch out for: Loops syncs only email and name from Stripe. Plan, MRR and other billing data have to come through its Events API. Only events that include an email address are processed. Loops lists $49/month for up to 5,000 subscribed contacts. See Audienceful vs Loops.
Drip
Drip connects through a Stripe webhook plus read-only authorization. Each event creates or updates a person, logs an event and, for charges, updates lifetime value.
What stands out: workflows and rules can trigger on Stripe events, such as starting a recovery campaign when a payment fails or removing a tag on a refund.
Watch out for: there's no historical import, so only customers active after you connect come over. See Audienceful vs Drip.
Customer.io
Customer.io doesn't have a one-click Stripe connector. Its documentation describes a do-it-yourself approach: send Stripe webhooks, starting with customer.created, to a webhook-triggered workflow that finds or creates the person and stores their Stripe ID. Further Stripe webhooks can then trigger messages, including dunning emails.
What stands out: total flexibility, on a powerful messaging platform.
Watch out for: you design, build and maintain the pipeline, and you only get the data you send. Essentials starts at $100/month. See Audienceful vs Customer.io, and our guide to sending emails from Stripe webhooks for what that pipeline involves.
Klaviyo
Klaviyo's Stripe app, plus a webhook you add in Stripe, records four metrics: successfully paid, failed payment, issued invoice and refunded payment. Flows can start from any of them, so a failed payment can drive dunning.
What stands out: Klaviyo's reporting and flows are excellent for ecommerce.
Watch out for: there are no subscription states, trials or plans in the metrics, and an email address is required on the payment. It's built for stores rather than subscriptions. See Audienceful vs Klaviyo.
Kit
Kit's Stripe app imports past purchasers and adds new buyers as subscribers, with payments in a Purchases tab on each profile. A purchase can start a visual automation.
What stands out: a good fit for creators selling courses and digital products.
Watch out for: Kit watches only successful charges and subscription updates, refunds aren't supported, and there are no trial, failed payment or cancellation triggers. Visual automations need a paid plan. See Audienceful vs Kit.
Mailchimp
Mailchimp has its own paid Stripe integration. It adds Stripe customers and their orders to your audience, and you choose their permission status during setup.
What stands out: a familiar tool, with automations and segments on the synced customers.
Watch out for: we found no Stripe billing events (trial ending, payment failed, cancellation) among its triggers, so it's better for purchase follow-ups than subscription lifecycle email. See Audienceful vs Mailchimp.
MailerLite
MailerLite's Stripe integration is for selling: you sell Stripe products, one-off or recurring, from MailerLite landing pages, emails and sites. After a purchase, MailerLite can add the buyer to a group or update a field, and recurring products have an action for cancellations.
What stands out: an easy way to sell a product from your newsletter.
Watch out for: it doesn't sync existing Stripe customers or react to payments made elsewhere, so it's not a lifecycle tool for an existing Stripe business. See Audienceful vs MailerLite.
What about Brevo, Intercom and Zapier?
Brevo connects to Stripe through tools like Zapier rather than a native integration. Intercom's Stripe app shows subscription and payment details in the support inbox, which is useful for support but isn't an email automation sync. Zapier can connect Stripe to almost any email tool, but each step costs tasks and multi-step lifecycle flows get fragile. See Zapier vs a native integration.
How to choose
- Subscription business with trials and recurring billing? You need subscription events as triggers: Audienceful or Encharge, or ActiveCampaign if you're already there.
- Developer team that wants control? Loops for simplicity, Customer.io for flexibility, or your own webhooks.
- Selling products rather than subscriptions? Kit for creators, Klaviyo for stores.
- On a tight budget? Compare price at your contact count, and check whether the Stripe integration is on the plan you'd buy.

FAQs
What is the best email marketing tool for Stripe?
For subscription businesses, the best tools trigger email from Stripe's billing events natively and keep plan and spend on each contact. Audienceful and Encharge go deepest on subscription events. For creators selling products, Kit is a good fit; for stores, Klaviyo.
Does Mailchimp integrate with Stripe?
Yes. Mailchimp has a paid Stripe integration that adds Stripe customers and their orders to your audience. We didn't find Stripe billing events like failed payments or trial endings among its automation triggers.
Can I connect Stripe to my email tool without Zapier?
Yes, if the email tool has a native Stripe integration. Audienceful, Encharge, ActiveCampaign, Loops, Drip, Klaviyo, Kit and Mailchimp all connect without Zapier, though they differ in what they sync.
Which email tools can send dunning emails from Stripe?
Any tool that triggers on Stripe's failed payment event. Audienceful, Encharge, Drip and Klaviyo do this natively, and Customer.io and Loops can with webhooks. Audienceful's dunning flow stops once the subscription is active again.
