Smarter Segmentation & List Cleaning

Your email list is only as good as the people on it. Today we're shipping a major upgrade to segmentation and list management that makes it dead simple to target the right subscribers and clean out the rest.

Engagement-Based Segmentation 📊

You can now filter and segment your audience based on how engaged they actually are with your emails. New filter criteria include:

  • Open rate: Segment subscribers by their historical open rate across all your sends
  • Click rate: Find your most (or least) engaged clickers
  • Last activity date: Surface subscribers who haven't interacted in months
  • Source tracking: See which form or signup source each subscriber came from

Combine any of these with your existing filters — tags, custom fields, created date — to build hyper-targeted audiences. For example: "people who signed up more than 6 months ago AND have an open rate below 10% AND aren't tagged as customers." One click to save it as a dynamic audience.

Dynamic Audiences, Supercharged 🔄

All of these new engagement filters work with our dynamic audience system. That means subscribers automatically move in and out of segments as their engagement changes — no manual work required.

This also unlocks powerful automation triggers. Set up a re-engagement flow that fires when someone drops into your "low engagement" audience, or a VIP sequence when someone enters your "highly engaged" segment.

List Cleaning Made Easy 🧹

Keeping a clean list is one of the most important things you can do for deliverability. Inbox providers like Gmail and Outlook watch your bounce rates and engagement closely — a dirty list means more of your emails land in spam.

With these new segmentation tools, list cleaning is now a few clicks:

  1. Filter for subscribers added 6+ months ago with low open rates and no recent activity
  2. Review the segment to make sure it looks right
  3. Export or remove — either archive them, export for a re-engagement campaign, or clean them out entirely

We also now surface clearer status breakdowns across your list — active, cleaned, bounced, unsubscribed, and unconfirmed — so you always know the health of your audience at a glance.

Why this matters

Even the best email marketers see 15-30% list decay per year (higher in B2B where people switch jobs frequently). Regular list hygiene isn't optional — it's the difference between landing in the inbox and landing in spam.

These tools give you everything you need to stay on top of it.
