Brevo MCP and the Brevo Claude Connector, Explained

Short answer: Brevo has three official ways to connect an AI assistant, and they behave very differently:

1. The Brevo connector for Claude. An OAuth sign-in and 21 tools for reading your account and creating drafts. It "will never send or schedule email campaigns".
2. The Brevo plugin for ChatGPT. Built on the same idea: drafts and analysis, no sending.
3. The full Brevo MCP server. It uses an API key, has nearly 200 tools across 27 modules, including CRM, SMS and WhatsApp, and can send campaigns. It has been in early access since October 2025.

Here's what each one does, how to set it up, and when an alternative makes more sense, as of October 2026.

The Brevo connector for Claude

Brevo released its Claude connector in June 2026. It's listed in Claude's connector directory and marked Anthropic verified.

What it can do: read your account, senders, contacts, lists, segments and attributes, read campaigns and A/B test results, and create email campaigns, SMS campaigns and templates as drafts. It can also send a test of a template.

What it can't do: in Brevo's words, "Claude will never send or schedule email campaigns, and will never delete anything on your behalf." You finish and send in Brevo.

One thing to know: Brevo lists a known limitation. The connector "does not take user permissions into account". It works at account level, whatever that user's role is in Brevo.

Setup: in Claude, open the connectors menu, search for Brevo, sign in and authorize. Each Claude account can link one Brevo account.

The Brevo plugin for ChatGPT

The ChatGPT plugin works the same way: it can analyze your account and create HTML templates and email or SMS drafts, but "ChatGPT will never send or schedule email campaigns". Install it from ChatGPT's plugin directory and sign in with Brevo.

The full Brevo MCP server

This is the developer option, and the only one of the three that can send.

• URL: https://mcp.brevo.com/v1/brevo/mcp gives you every module. Each module also has its own URL, such as contacts only, and Brevo says a smaller set of tools can improve results.
• Auth: an API key with the MCP option turned on, created under Settings → SMTP & API → API Keys & MCP. Since March 2026 the key goes in an Authorization: Bearer header, not the URL.
• Coverage: 193 tools generated from Brevo's API, across contacts, lists, segments, email campaigns, templates, SMS, WhatsApp, CRM deals, companies and tasks, domains, senders and webhooks. Brevo says it "does allow for campaign sending."
• Clients: Brevo documents Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code and Cline. Claude Desktop needs Node.js and the mcp-remote bridge.

Limits: it's still described as early access. Its tools mirror the API one for one, so the assistant has to pick the right one out of nearly 200. Access follows the API key's permissions, not a per-user role. We also couldn't find automation tools in its modules.

Plans

Brevo says the Claude connector and ChatGPT plugin are available on every plan, including Free, with features and rate limits depending on your plan. When to use which

Use Brevo's connector if you want help drafting campaigns and making sense of your account, and you're happy to send from Brevo yourself.

Use the full server if you're a developer who needs Brevo's CRM, SMS or WhatsApp tools and can manage an API key.

Look at Audienceful if you want one OAuth connection that can do the whole job, safely.
