Kit MCP (ConvertKit MCP): What It Does and How It Compares
Short answer: yes, Kit (formerly ConvertKit) has an official MCP server. It's hosted at https://app.kit.com/mcp, you connect it with a browser sign-in, and it works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI apps. It covers most of Kit's API: subscribers, tags, forms, broadcasts and sequences. It's available on paid Kit plans only.
Kit launched the server in May 2026 as a public beta and has since taken it out of beta. Kit's newer help articles also call it "AI Connectors". This guide covers what it does, where it stops, and how it compares, as of October 2026.
We run Audienceful, an email platform that many creators switch to from Kit, and it has its own MCP server, so we're not neutral. We've kept the Kit sections to what Kit documents.
What the Kit MCP can do
Kit says the server covers its full public API and exposes more than 65 tools. In practice that means:
- Subscribers: look up, add, update and unsubscribe people, filter your list, and bulk-update custom fields.
- Tags and custom fields: create, rename and apply tags in bulk, and manage custom fields.
- Broadcasts: create and edit draft broadcasts (subject, body, preview text, segment and template), and read stats and link clicks.
- Sequences: create sequences, add subscribers to them and see who's in each.
- Forms and landing pages: list forms, add subscribers to them, and build or edit landing pages.
- Account stats: growth and email stats across your account.
Kit says it now builds broadcasts and sequences from your own templates and brand, so drafts arrive ready to tweak in Kit's editor.
Sending: Kit's own plugin documentation says write actions show a preview first, and that "sends and deletes require explicit confirmation". So the assistant can get a broadcast ready and schedule it, but only once you've confirmed.
How to set it up
- In your AI app, add a custom connector or MCP server with the URL
https://app.kit.com/mcp. - A browser window opens. Sign in to Kit and click Allow.
- In Claude Desktop, restart the app.
Kit documents this for Claude Desktop, ChatGPT (in developer mode on the web) and Cursor, where you can also install Kit from the Cursor Marketplace. To connect a second Kit account, add a query string to the URL, such as https://app.kit.com/mcp?account2. You can revoke access from Kit's AI Setup page.
Where it stops
- Paid plans only. Kit's Free plan can connect, but every tool call returns an upgrade prompt. The MCP is included on Creator and Creator Pro at no extra cost.
- Segments are read-only. The assistant can list your segments and target one, but you build segments in Kit.
- Visual automations aren't covered. Sequences are, but Kit's visual automations are built in the app.
- Permissions are broad. Kit hasn't documented fine-grained OAuth scopes, so the assistant can reach everything the API can, apart from the actions that need your confirmation.

Switching from Kit?
- Pay less as your list grows. At 10,000 subscribers Audienceful is $79/mo billed yearly ($99 monthly), against $139 for Kit. At 30,000 it's $196 ($245 monthly), against $290. See the full Kit comparison.
- MCP on the free plan. Kit's MCP needs a paid plan. Audienceful's works on every plan, including Free.
- Real segments and automations. Your assistant can build segments from a description and multi-step automations, not just tags and sequences.
- An AI agent built in, too. The same work happens inside Audienceful with the built-in agent, so you're not tied to one assistant. Both are on every plan, and the MCP server doesn't use AI credits.
Start free: the free plan covers up to 1,000 contacts. Then bring your list over with our migration guide.
When to use which
Stay with Kit's MCP if you're happy on a paid Kit plan and want help drafting broadcasts and keeping your tags tidy. It's a solid, well-documented server.
Look at Audienceful if you want the MCP on any plan, including Free, or you want your assistant to handle more than broadcasts. It can build real segments ("subscribers who joined from the course page and haven't clicked in 60 days"), design a multi-step automation, write in an editor your team can collaborate in, and report on revenue from Stripe or Shopify. Every send needs your approval for the exact recipients. If you'd rather not use an outside assistant, Audienceful's built-in AI agent does the same work inside the app.
