Generating images with the AI agent

The agent can make images, not just find words for them. Ask for one inside the editor and it generates the image, drops it into your email, and leaves it fully editable like any other image block.

Creating an image

Describe what you want:

"Generate a photo of a ceramic coffee mug on a wooden table for the header."

"Make an illustration of a rocket for the section about the launch."

"Add an image under each section heading."

The agent picks a sensible spot, or you can tell it where. Ask for several images at once and it works through them one at a time.

Generation takes a few seconds. When it lands, the image appears in the email for you and every collaborator at the same time — and, like every body edit, the message carries a Revert this edit button if it isn't what you wanted.

Shape

Emails are narrow, so images default to a landscape shape that fits a 600px column. If you need something different, say so — square, portrait, wide banner, story-shaped — and it will use that instead.

Editing an image that's already there

Point at an image in your email and describe the change:

"Make the background of that image navy."

"Warm up the lighting on the hero image."

That's an adjustment — it works from the existing image, so the composition stays recognizable.

If you want something genuinely different in the same slot, say so:

"Replace this image with something completely different — a workshop bench instead of an office."

That generates from scratch and swaps it in, keeping the block's size and layout.

Matching your brand

This is the part that makes generated images usable rather than stock-looking. Fresh generations are conditioned on your brand's actual look:

  • the image style description on your Context page — medium, palette, lighting, mood — distilled from your website
  • up to three brand images pulled from your site, attached as visual references

They steer palette, lighting and mood only. The agent won't copy subjects, people, products, layouts, text or logos from those references.

If you ask for a specific look — "make it a line drawing", "as digital art" — that wins on the medium, but your brand's colors and mood still come through. You can edit the image style description any time, and it's used from then on.

Image edits aren't brand-conditioned; the image you're editing is already the reference.

A few practical notes

  • Text in images doesn't render well. Generated images avoid it by design. Put your words in the email, where they're readable, selectable and accessible.
  • Generated images live in your workspace image library, alongside anything you've uploaded, so you can reuse one later.
  • Always add or check the alt text. The agent writes it from your prompt; adjust it if the image means something specific.
  • Attaching your own image is different from generating one. Use the paperclip to attach a photo and ask the agent to place it — it inserts your file rather than making a new one. It will only insert images you actually attached or that are already in the email; it can't pull an image in from somewhere else.

Credits and plans

Image generation is available on paid plans. Each image costs a flat rate of AI credits — considerably more than an ordinary text request — and you're only charged when an image actually comes back. The meter in the agent panel shows what you have left.

On Free, asking for an image gets you an upgrade prompt rather than a failure.
