How to Connect Audienceful to Zapier

Zapier connects Audienceful to 5,000+ other apps — CRMs, payment processors, form builders, spreadsheets, Slack and more — with no code. A "Zap" links a trigger (something happens in one app) to an action (do something in another). Audienceful works on both sides: it can start a Zap when something happens in your workspace, and it can be the action a Zap performs.

What you'll need

  • A free Zapier account.
  • An Audienceful account you can sign into. Connecting uses a secure OAuth authorization — there's no API key to generate, copy or manage.

Connect Audienceful to Zapier

The quickest path is right inside Audienceful:

  1. Go to Settings → Zapier (app.audienceful.com/settings/zapier). This page embeds Zapier's builder so you can create and manage Zaps without leaving Audienceful.
  2. Pick a pre-built template or start from scratch. The first time you add an Audienceful step, Zapier asks you to connect your account.
  3. Click Connect and Zapier sends you to Audienceful to authorize the connection. Sign in if you're prompted, review the access, and click Allow — you'll be redirected back to Zapier, connected. No API key required.

You can also start from Zapier's side — search for Audienceful in the Zapier app directory — and you'll go through the same one-click authorization. Either way you only connect once; after that, Audienceful is available in any Zap.

Zapier connects to the Audienceful workspace you authorize. If you manage more than one workspace, make sure you're signed into the right one when you approve the connection — in Zapier you can add a separate Audienceful connection for each workspace and pick the right one per Zap.

Triggers: start a Zap from Audienceful

Use these when you want something in Audienceful to kick off a workflow in another app. Audienceful can trigger a Zap when:

  • A contact is created — a new person is added to your workspace.
  • A contact is updated — a person's email, name, custom fields or subscription status changes.
  • A contact unsubscribes — someone opts out or is marked unsubscribed.
  • A contact is deleted — a person is removed from your workspace.
  • A bulk email is sent — a broadcast finishes sending, with a summary of the send.
  • An audience member is added or removed — a contact enters or leaves one of your audiences.

Common examples: post new subscribers to a Slack channel, add every new contact to a Google Sheet, or push new subscribers into your CRM (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce).

Actions: have a Zap update Audienceful

Use these when something happens elsewhere and you want Audienceful to react. A Zap can:

  • Create or update a contact — add someone to your audience (or update their fields) from any trigger app.
  • Send an event — fire a custom automation event into Audienceful to start a drip sequence, with event properties you can drop straight into the emails.

The most popular setup is syncing customers in: every time someone buys through Stripe, Shopify, Paddle or Gumroad, or signs up in Typeform or Calendly, a Zap adds them to Audienceful automatically — no manual imports.

Trigger automations with events

The Send event action is the bridge between Zapier and Audienceful's automation builder. Send an event from any app, then build an automation with a Custom trigger that watches for it — the contact drops into a drip sequence, and any event properties you passed (a coupon code, an order total, a redirect link) can be personalized into every email in the flow. This is how you power trial onboarding, lead-magnet nurtures, receipts and other transactional flows from tools that don't have a native Audienceful integration.

Popular Zaps to start with

  • Slack message for every new subscriber — keep your team in the loop on signups.
  • New payment → new contact — add Stripe/Shopify/Gumroad customers to your audience the moment they buy.
  • Form submission → contact — pipe Typeform, Google Forms or Calendly bookings into Audienceful.
  • New subscriber → CRM — sync inbound leads to HubSpot, Pipedrive or Salesforce.

Troubleshooting

  • The connection fails or Zapier asks you to reconnect. The authorization was revoked or expired. In the Zap's Audienceful step, reconnect the account and approve the authorization again — and make sure you're signed into the correct workspace when you do.
  • A "Send event" action isn't triggering an automation. The event name in the Zap must match the event name in Audienceful exactly. Check the Events settings page for the log of received events and their request bodies.
  • A trigger isn't firing. Use Zapier's own test tool on the trigger step to pull a recent sample, and confirm the Zap is turned on.
