How to Connect Stripe to Audienceful

Connecting Stripe is the first step to every subscription email automation in Audienceful — trial onboarding, failed-payment dunning, cancellation win-backs and more. This guide walks through connecting your account.

Connect your account

  1. In Audienceful, go to the Integrations tab and choose Stripe, then click Install/Connect.
  2. You'll be sent to Stripe to authorize Audienceful (via Stripe Connect). Sign in to Stripe if prompted and approve access.
  3. Stripe redirects you back to Audienceful, and your account shows as Connected.

There's no API key to copy or paste — the connection uses Stripe's secure OAuth (Stripe Connect) flow.

What happens after connecting

Once connected, Audienceful listens to your Stripe events and turns them into contacts and triggers:

  • Stripe customers become Audienceful contacts as events arrive (new customers, subscription changes, payments).
  • Subscription and payment events become automation triggers — trial started, trial ending, payment failed, subscription canceled, and more.
  • Payments are recorded as revenue, which powers conversion tracking and lets you segment contacts by total spend.

Connecting starts syncing from that point forward. To bring in your existing customers and payment history, run a one-time historical import.

How Stripe contact syncing works

Stripe syncing is one-way: Stripe customers flow into Audienceful as contacts, but Audienceful doesn't create or modify customers in your Stripe account. You can turn customer syncing on or off — see How Stripe contact syncing works.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect at any time from the integration page, or by revoking Audienceful's access from within your Stripe dashboard. Either removes the connection from your workspace.
