How to Connect Shopify to Audienceful

Connecting Shopify is the first step to every Shopify email automation in Audienceful: abandoned cart recovery, post-purchase flows, win-backs and more. This guide walks through connecting your store and what happens once you do.

Connect your store

  1. In Audienceful, go to the Integrations tab and choose Shopify, then click Install/Connect.
  2. On the Shopify integration page, enter your store URL. You can paste it in any form: the store prefix (your-store), the full your-store.myshopify.com address, or the admin URL from your browser (https://admin.shopify.com/store/your-store). Audienceful normalizes it for you.
  3. Click Connect to start the secure OAuth handshake. You'll be sent to Shopify to authorize Audienceful, then redirected back to your workspace.

That's it. No code and no manual API keys. Once authorized, your store shows as Connected.

What happens automatically after connecting

As soon as your store is connected, Audienceful sets a few things up for you:

New orders, customers and checkouts then flow in automatically and become available as automation triggers and audience conditions.

Connecting only starts syncing activity from that point forward. To bring in your past customers and orders, and to design and test emails against real product and purchase data before you send, run a one-time historical import.

What you can do once connected

  • Show your most popular products automatically. Create product feeds (best-selling, most-viewed, newest or random product sets) and drop them into any email with the Product List block. Feeds are resolved fresh on every send, so a "best sellers based on recent purchases" email always reflects what's actually selling right now.
  • Design and test with real product data. After a historical import, your real products, customers and order history live in Audienceful, so you can build, preview and test emails against your live catalog and real segments before you ever hit send, instead of designing against placeholder data.
  • Segment on real purchase behavior. Build audiences from actual Shopify data: total spent, products purchased, order recency and more.
  • Trigger behavioral automations. Use store events (checkouts, orders, product views and add-to-carts) to power abandoned cart, browse abandonment and post-purchase flows.

Contact syncing is two-way

Once connected, Shopify customers become Audienceful contacts, and new Audienceful subscribers can be pushed back to Shopify as customers, with email-marketing consent kept in sync in both directions. You can toggle each direction on or off (see How Shopify contact syncing works).

Reconnecting

Shopify access uses secure, rotating tokens. If your store sits idle for a long stretch or you revoke access in Shopify, the integration will ask you to reconnect. Just run the connect steps above again.
