How to Import Your Historical Shopify Data

Connecting Shopify starts syncing new activity right away, but it doesn't automatically pull in your past customers and orders. A one-time historical import backfills that history, so your audiences, revenue totals and win-back automations reflect real purchase behavior from the start.

Run an import

On the Shopify integration page, start a historical import and choose what to bring in:

  • Customers: your existing Shopify customers.
  • Orders: recent order history (and the revenue and product data that comes with it).
  • All: customers first, then orders.

The import runs in the background. You can watch its progress on the integration page, and cancel it if you need to. It's safe to run alongside live syncing. Records that overlap are de-duplicated, not doubled.

What gets imported

  • Customers become Audienceful contacts (matched by email), with name, general location (city / state / country) and email-marketing consent. For privacy compliance, phone numbers and street addresses are not imported.
  • Orders bring in purchase history as behavioral data (which products were bought, and when) and record revenue for paid orders. This is what makes conditions like "purchased in the last 90 days" and "spent over $X" work.

Order history is imported for roughly the last year. Historical revenue is counted toward your store totals but isn't attributed to email (it happened before your Audienceful sends), so your email-attributed revenue stays accurate.

After the import

Once the import finishes, Audienceful automatically recomputes your Shopify-based audiences and refreshes revenue totals, so a segment like "lapsed customers, no purchase in 90 days" is populated and ready to feed a win-back flow.
