How to Build a Replenishment / Reorder Reminder Flow for Shopify
If you sell anything consumable (coffee, skincare, supplements, pet food, refills), your customers will run out on a predictable schedule. A replenishment (reorder) flow reaches them right before they do, making the reorder effortless and, ideally, converting them to a subscription.
Here's how to build one in Audienceful.
What you'll need
- A Shopify integration connected to your workspace.
- Two short emails.
- A sense of your product's typical run-out window (how long one order lasts).
How the replenishment flow works
When a Shopify order is paid, the customer enters the automation, then it waits out the product's lifespan before nudging a reorder:
- Wait roughly one run-out window (e.g. a month).
- Remind them it's time to restock.
- Wait a bit longer.
- Offer a subscribe-and-save upgrade so they never run out again.
The key setting is the wait. Tune it to how long your product actually lasts.
Step 1: Connect Shopify
Connect your store from the Integrations tab. The Order paid trigger then appears in the automation builder.
Step 2: Write your two emails
- Email 1: the reorder nudge. Remind them they're probably running low and make reordering a one-click action. Example subject: "Running low? Time to restock"
- Email 2: subscribe & save. Convert the one-off reorder into a subscription with a small ongoing discount. Example subject: "Never run out: subscribe & save 15%"
Personalize with the {{first_name}} merge tag.
Step 3: Build the automation
In the Automations tab, click New Automation:
- Trigger: Shopify event → Order paid.
- Wait 1 month (set this to your product's run-out window).
- Send Email 1, the reorder reminder.
- Wait 1 week.
- Send Email 2, the subscribe-and-save offer.
Pick your theme and click Run.
Best practices
- Tune the wait to the product. A 30-day supplement and a 90-day filter need different timings, so set the first wait to match.
- Make reordering trivial. Link straight to a pre-filled cart or reorder page.
- Use it to build recurring revenue. The subscribe-and-save email turns a one-time buyer into predictable monthly revenue.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know what wait to set? Use your product's typical run-out window: how long a single order lasts a customer. Aim to arrive a little before they run out, so reordering feels timely rather than late.
Can I have different timings per product? Yes. Build a separate replenishment automation per product (or product group) with its own wait, and trigger each from the relevant orders.
