Testing & Previewing Your Emails Before You Send
The best time to catch a broken link, a busted merge tag, or a layout that falls apart on mobile is before you hit send. Audienceful's preview gives you everything you need to check an email end to end.
Open it from the editor to see your draft exactly as recipients will.
Preview on desktop, mobile, and dark mode
The preview renders your email the way real inboxes will:
- Desktop and mobile — flip between the two to make sure your layout holds up on a phone, where a big chunk of your opens happen.
- Light and dark mode — check that your logo, colors, and text stay readable if you've set up a dark-mode palette.
The link checker
Every clickable link in your email — text links, buttons, image links, and social icons — is scanned automatically and listed for you, each marked as OK or flagged.
The checker catches the two mistakes that quietly ruin emails:
- Broken or malformed URLs, so a typo'd link never ships.
- Links missing
https://, which some clients won't handle correctly.
Links that contain a merge tag or event property (like a personalized {{event.cart_url}}) are treated as dynamic — they're filled in at send time, so the checker recognizes them as valid rather than flagging them.
Send a test email
Send the real thing to yourself or a teammate to see how it actually lands in the inbox. You can send a test to up to 5 addresses at once, and Audienceful remembers your usual test addresses so you don't retype them every time.
Test sends are deliberately kept separate from real campaigns: they don't count against your list, don't affect your analytics, and aren't gated the way a bulk send is — so test as often as you like.
Always send yourself a test before a big send. Reading an email in a real inbox — on your phone, in your actual mail client — surfaces things no on-screen preview will, like how the subject line and preheader truncate.
Testing event-triggered emails
If an email is part of an automation triggered by a custom event or an integration — an order confirmation, say — it depends on event properties that only exist when a real event comes in. The preview lets you load a sample event and see exactly how those properties populate your email, so you can confirm the order number, coupon code, or shipping date renders correctly before a single one goes out to a customer.
This is the safest way to build transactional and event-driven emails: preview them against real event data, check every dynamic value, then turn the automation on with confidence.
